Biography

When and why did you start training for fighting?  I began my training in 2007 with the goals of eventually getting into K-1 tournaments and wanting to become a great kickboxer. Along the way I realized that with my prior experience in wrestling that I had tools to compete in MMA, and I started training everything. I fell in love with the sport ever since.
What ranks and titles have you held? As a kid I competed in several Isshin Ryu karate tournaments and did well. I ended as a brown belt because I had to move due to a family situation. I’m also the welterweight champion for a promotion out of Dallas called Dominion Warrior.
Do you have any heroes? My all-time hero is Muhammad Ali. Everything about his journey to becoming the greatest ever has inspired me in more ways that I could write. He was a great boxer that used his fame to help others and I hope to be able to do that one day myself.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? It means everything to me. I want to be considered one of the best to ever complete in this sport. I've sacrificed a lot to get to this point - Jobs, family, friends, money. The UFC is the highest level in MMA and it would be a dream come true for me.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I started and never finished. My degree goal was a bachelors in kinesiology.
What was your job before you started fighting? I've always worked while I’ve fought. It’s been a challenge balancing both, but I thank God for continuing to bless me.
Ranks in any martial arts styles: Brown belt in Isshin Ryu karate, trained in Muay Thai under seven-time world champion Saekson Janjira for almost 10 years.
Favorite grappling technique: Head and arm choke, armbar
Favorite Striking technique: Elbows and head kicks
