Biography
TRAINING: I work a full time job as well as training, so I usually get up and lift and run at 5:00am then head to work. After work I head to Power MMA for my team practice from 3:00 till 6:00 or so. It's a lot but it's well worth it at the end of the day.
Thoughts on opponent, Brian Melancon? It's another tough fight. The guys coming over from Strikeforce are really trying to prove themselves. So it should be another tough fight.
When and why did you start training for fighting? 2005 – I saw it on TV and thought I would be good at it. Started training with Santino DeFranco and began trying it out and now I train everyday with some of the most elite guys in the UFC. MMA is an addictive sport and very challenging to say the least.
What ranks and titles have you held? Ringside MMA Welterweight Title, Nicest Guy in The Gym 2009
Do you have any heroes? My Dad is my hero. He marches to his own drums and I hope I can keep making him proud.
What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? I know it is cliché to say, but it means everything. This is the pinnacle of MMA and to be the best you have to be a part of the best organization. I am really excited to have the chance to leave my mark in MMA and especially to do so inside the UFC.
Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? N/A
What was your job before you started fighting? Construction, which I still do here and there.
If any, list ranks in any martial arts styles: Blue Belt in BJJ under Francisco "Kiko" France
Favorite grappling technique: Triangle
Favorite Striking technique: The KO
