Pena, Shevchenko Clash in Denver Main Event

After huge wins in their recent bouts, Julianna Pena and Valentina Shevchenko are on a collision course that leads to Denver, Colorado, where the two bantamweight contenders will meet in the UFC on FOX main event on Saturday, Jan. 28.

The five-round headlining bout takes place at Pepsi Center.

Winner of season 18 of The Ultimate Fighter, Pena has been on a perfect run in the UFC since the show, going 4-0 with wins over the likes of Milana Dudieva and Jessica Eye. In her most recent bout at UFC 200 in July, “The Venezuelan Vixen” decisioned former world title challenger Cat Zingano, cementing her No. 3 spot in the 135-pound rankings. Sitting one slot ahead of Pena in the rankings is decorated kickboxer Shevchenko, who has won six of her last seven bouts, most notably taking a five-round unanimous decision victory over former world champion Holly Holm in July. On Jan. 28, “Bullet” Shevchenko returns to FOX to face Pena.
