Thursday Fight Update: Holm-Reneau Set

A pivotal bout in the UFC women's bantamweight division has been secured for July 15 in San Diego, as unbeaten Holly Holm seeks her second UFC victory against surging fellow contender Marion Reneau.

Fight Night San Diego, which is headlined by the heavyweight bout between Frank Mir and Todd Duffee, will air live on FOX Sports 1.

Currently ranked tenth in the world at 135 pounds, former boxing great Holm made a successful debut in the UFC in February, winning a decision over Raquel Pennington. The 11th-ranked Reneau burst onto the Octagon scene this year, defeating Alexis Dufresne and Jessica Andrade in successive bouts.

Also added to upcoming cards will be a lightweight matchup between Cody Pfister and Yosdenis Cedeno, which will be heading to the UFC 189 event on July 11 in Las Vegas. And the UFC Fight Night card in Nashville on August 8th will see light heavyweight prospects Jonathan Wilson and Matt Van Buren collide.

At age 20, Cody’s brother introduced him to five-year old Maddux, who was deathly ill with leukemia. As the two became friends, they made a promise to each other: Maddux would beat cancer, and Cody would become world champion.
Khabib Nurmagomedov showed the lightweight division what he was capable of when he knocked out Thiago Taveres in Brazil back in 2013 to improve to 19-0. Next he faces Tony Ferguson for the lightweight belt at UFC 223 live on Pay-Per-View.
UFC commentators Joe Rogan and Jimmy Smith preview the highly anticipated UFC 223 lightweight championship bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
