Antonio Silva Comes Alive In Second Round To TKO Palelei

SILVA vs. PALELEI

Winless since 2013, heavyweight veteran Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva got back on track in a big way with a second round knockout of Soa Palelei.

“I was on a bad streak, I came from two losses here in Brazil, and I needed to reward the crowd with a good win,” Silva said. “I’m back with everything I’ve got.”

After a nip and tuck battle for much of the opening round, Palelei got Silva to the mat late in the frame and began unleashing his trademark ground strikes, jarring the Brazilian just before the bell.

Silva bounced back in the second, hurting Palelei with uppercuts and knees against the fence, and after eating a few of those bombs, the Australian dropped to the canvas, with a few more strikes following before referee John McCarthy waved the bout off 41 seconds into round two.

With the win, Brasilia’s Silva ups his record to 19-7 with 1 NC; Perth’s Palelei falls to 22-5.
