(LAS VEGAS, NV --- Dec. 7, 2010) –This past year, UFC® fans from around the globe had the opportunity to celebrate their passion for UFC® and the sport of mixed martial arts at UFC® Fan Expo™ events in Las Vegas, Boston and London. With an overwhelming response in each city, the UFC® Fan Expo™ excelled in providing the ultimate fan experience.
Now, the UFC® and Reed Exhibitions are pleased to announce the first-ever UFC® Fan Expo™ in Canada. The two-day event, which could be the biggest UFC® Fan Expo™ ever, is scheduled to take place April 29 – 30, 2011 at the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto.
In August 2010, Premier Dalton McGuinty announced that the provincial government would allow regulated mixed martial arts events to take place in Ontario. With this historic news, UFC® is excited to bring Canadian fans the ultimate fan experience with UFC® Fan Expo™ and a major UFC event next year.
“It’s been our goal to bring a major UFC event to Toronto for a long time,” said UFC President Dana White. “The fans in Ontario are amazing and we want to give them a weekend they won’t forget. With the UFC Fan Expo and the card we are putting together, Ontario is in for an incredible weekend.”
As the world’s leading MMA event, UFC® Fan Expo™ provides fans with the opportunity to experience, celebrate, learn and come face-to-face with some of the greatest athletes in sports today. Fans will take advantage of all that UFC® has to offer through a jam-packed weekend of exciting activities including autograph sessions with the largest collection of UFC® fighters, exhibitions, training & development seminars, fan-inspired special events and competitions, meet & greets with top fighters and industry icons, demos of various fighting techniques, interactive events, and much more.
Exhibitors at the Expo will now reach a new demographic of fans from the second largest country in the world. UFC® Fan Expo™ Toronto is expected to attract over 150 leading vendors covering approximately 300,000 square feet of space. The exhibit floor will feature apparel, electronic gaming, food & beverages, fight gear, fitness equipment and supplies, nutritional supplements, lifestyle products, and others.
Building off the successes of the previous Expos and paired with a stacked fight card, UFC® Fan Expo™ Toronto 2011 will bring an unforgettable sports experience to the city.
“We are very excited to finally bring all of the excitement of the UFC to Ontario,” said UFC Director of Canadian Operations Tom Wright. “Fans in Ontario have waited patiently and we are happy to bring them this ultimate weekend of fan events, as well as a major UFC fight card.”
