Rankings: McGregor Moves Up To No. 4 at 145 Pounds

Just two days after Conor McGregor officially became the No. 1 contender to Jose Aldo’s 145-pound title after a win over Dennis Siver at Fight Night Boston, “The Notorious” made a jump in the latest release of the official UFC rankings.
McGregor moves up to No. 4 this week, passing Cub Swanson to place him right behind Chad Mendes (No. 1), Frankie Edgar (No. 2) and Ricardo Lamas (No. 3).
With the loss, Siver drops out of the top 10 down to No. 12, allowing Jeremy Stephens and Clay Guida to each move up a spot.
At the Fight Night Boston post fight press conference on Sunday night, UFC President Dana White said McGregor is “the real deal.”
“Look at the things he’s able to do,” White said. “Dennis Siver (was) a top 10 ranked guy who has finished a lot of people in the UFC. He’s been in big fights … and Conor looked amazing. He is the real deal. You saw it, you know exactly what I’m saying. My phone was blowing up with people saying that this kid is the real deal.”
In other notable movement in the rankings, T.J. Dillashaw moved up to No. 7 on the pound-for-pound list, dropping UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and the legendary Anderson Silva down a spot to No. 8 and No. 9, respectively.
Both Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Benson Henderson stayed put at No. 3 and No. 5 in the lightweight division after Cerrone’s decision win.
Outside the top 15 of each division there were a few moves of interest based off the results of Fight Night Boston.
Lorenz Larkin received two votes after his impressive knockout finish against John Howard in the welterweight division. Paddy Holohan received several more votes after his win against Shane Howell, but is still ranked No. 23 at flyweight.
Uriah Hall won his third straight in Boston and moved up to No. 16 at middleweight, right on the outside of the top 15. Gleison Tibau moved up a few spots to No. 19 at lightweight.
