UFC 179 Post-Fight Bonus Report

Seven fighters joined UFC president Dana White at the UFC 179 post-fight press conference: Darren Elkins, Beneil Dariush, Gilbert Burns, Fabio Maldonado, Phil Davis, Chad Mendes, and Jose Aldo.

Performance of the Night was awarded to light heavyweight Fabio Maldonado and lightweight Gilbert Burns. Maldonado posted his 14th career knockout victory against Hans Stringer during the main card. Burns highlighted the UFC FIGHT PASS prelims with his first round submission of UFC newcomer Christos Giagos.

Fight of the Night went to featherweights Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes for what Dana White called, "the greatest featherweight championship fight" he's ever seen. Aldo and Mendes engaged in an absolute war that saw Aldo defend his belt for the seventh time. The Brazilian champion landed a career-high 102 significant strikes, including 37 in the opening round.

White also announced that the UFC is slated to hold seven events in Brazil in 2015.

Each bonus winner was awarded $50,000.
